Evaluation of Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative’s (NICFI) Support to Private Sector Initiatives

The purpose of this evaluation is to assess the strategic approach, relevance and effectiveness of the support from Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative’s (NICFI) to private sector initiatives (PSIs) that aim to reduce deforestation and forest degradation (D&D), for the period from 2008-2019.

The evaluation aims to (i) document NICFI’s strategic approach to its support to PSIs; (ii) assess whether this support aligns with local needs, country partnerships and general goals of Norwegian development assistance; and (iii) assess whether this support is contributing to achieving the postulated objectives.

The overarching aim is to provide lessons and recommendations for strengthening NICFI’s private sector support in the next strategic period from 2020 to 2030.
