Development through Institutions? Institutional Development promoted by Norwegian Private Companies and Consulting Firms - Sub-study 3

The purpose of this study is to collect and assess experiences with institutional development efforts in programmes managed by private consulting firms in order to increase the understanding of what factors influences and contributes to institutional development.

The objectives are:

(a) to examine institutional development strategies, experiences and outcomes from a group of private consulting firms,

{b) to analyse the preparation, processes and outcomes of institutional programmes and in particular assess, and how these are perceived by Southern partners,

(c) to contribute towards improved policies and practices in the area of technical co-operation and institution building.
